Andorra (Andorra in Catalan), officially the Principality of Andorra (Principality of Andorra), is a country in southeastern Europe without access to the sea, situated in the Pyrenees between Spain and France, to about 200 km from Toulouse. The principality, whose origins date back to the reign of Charlemagne, is one of the smallest states in the world and is governed by a single system, the paréage. The contract of feudal law grants the throne two co-princes of Andorra, the Catalan bishop of Urgell and the head of the French state. Long ignored but very attractive, Andorra came out of its isolation in the twentieth century, during which it took its exceptional natural setting and used a tax system beneficial to become a major tourist destination. If the Principality is known today for its skiing and its low taxes, it is often considered a tax haven.
