The Isle of Man, Isle of Man in English, in Manx Ellan Vannin, or Mann, Mannin in Manx, is a British territory consists of one main island and several islets in the Irish Sea, the center island British. The Isle of Man as a dependency of the British Crown, that is to say that the island does not belong in the United Kingdom or the European Union but is directly owned by the British monarch, currently Queen Elizabeth II. This statute does not, however, recognized an independent state but it has wide political and economic autonomy. The Isle of Man is a Celtic land since the early history, then became a Viking kingdom in the Middle Ages under the influence Anglo-Saxon. The Scandinavian rulers have established a political system based on the principle of "free citizens" and organized around the Tynwald, which is the oldest continuously functioning parliament in the world. The Isle of Man is now part of the 6 Celtic Nations (with Ireland, Cornwall, Brittany, Scotland and Wales).
